This week's Monday drill was a "Lost Person Search" drill for our members. The "Lost Person Search" drill was conducted at the Leon Levy Preserve on Smith Ridge Road in South Salem, New York. Several Vista Fire & EMS crews searched the area bordering Smith Ridge Road, Kitchawan Road and Rt. 35 while another crew was staged at the Leon Levy Preserve entrance. It took Vista Fire Department crews roughly 20 minutes to locate the person, address the patient's medical needs, package them for extrication and remove them from the woods to a waiting ambulance. Practicing this type of training is instrumental for our members due to the amount of parks in the Vista Fire District such as the Leon Levy Preserve and Onatru Farm.
