This Sunday morning we held an "Advanced Firefighter Skills Class," an "EMT Fundamentals Class," a "Firefighter Fundamentals Class" and Driver Training for our members who are becoming Apparatus Drivers on Tanker 4.

This Sunday's "Advanced Firefighter Skills Class" focused on how to perform a search & rescue operation while also reviewing the punch technique for wall breaching. Vista Firefighters conducted several evolutions on search & rescue operations where they would search the simulated fire floor and then locate the patient by taking them out of the smoke filled atmosphere to where awaiting EMS personnel would be stationed. This type of training is what will help our Firefighters who have completed various Firefighting classes keep up with their skills.

This Sunday's "EMT Fundamentals Class" had our EMS personnel going over how to take vitals on a patient and a review of patient assessment. This type of training is what will prepare our EMT Candidates who are preparing themselves for a future EMT Basic class and for our EMTs who have completed EMT Basic to keep up with their skills.

This Sunday's "Firefighter Fundamentals Class" focused on the components of an SCBA, a definition on what the riding assignments on our Vista Engines mean and where equipment is located on Engine 143. This type of training is what will help our Firefighters who plan on attending the New York State Firefighter I program succeed in their class and for our Firefighters who have completed Firefighter I to keep up with their skills.
