This Sunday morning we held an "Advanced Firefighter Skills Class" and an "MPO & Firefighter Fundamentals Class" for our weekly Sunday Training.

This Sunday's "Advanced Firefighter Skills Class" focused on how to perform F.A.S.T. (Firefighter Assist & Search Team) skills by going over how to shut off a Firefighter's PASS (Personal Alert Safety System) device in a structure fire atmosphere and how to package a downed Firefighter using such tools as the 6' steel hooks. This type of training is what will help our Firefighters who have completed various Firefighting classes to keep up with their skills.

This Sunday's "MPO & Firefighter Fundamentals Class" focused on how to properly stretch an 1-3/4" hose line, perform a 2 minute drill and a 25 second drill. While Firefighters were learning how to stretch a charged 1-3/4" hose line, our prospective apparatus drivers & MPOs learned how to properly operate the Engine 142 pump panel. This type of training is what will help our Firefighters who plan on attending the New York State Firefighter I program succeed in their class and for our Firefighters who have completed Firefighter I to keep up with their skills.
