This week's Monday Night Drill was "extrication" for our Firefighters and EMTs alongside the South Salem Volunteer Fire Department.

The "extrication" drill had our Vista Firefighters & EMTs alongside the South Salem Firefighters working on a two-car motor vehicle accident scenario. Vista & South Salem Firefighters practiced stabilization and extrication operations while Vista EMS personnel handled patient care. Motor vehicle extrication is the process of removing a person who has been involved in a motor vehicle accident when conventional means of an exit are impossible or inadvisable.

This type of training was a great opportunity to work with the South Salem Fire Department as the likelihood of working together during a motor vehicle accident with extrication is high. As neighboring Departments, both the Vista & South Salem Fire Departments try to train together in the event of a mutual aid response on a regular basis.
