This Sunday morning we held an "Advanced Firefighter Skills Class", an "EMT Fundamentals Class," a "Firefighter Fundamentals Class," an "MPO Class" and Driver Training for our members who are becoming Apparatus Drivers on Tanker 4.

This Sunday's "Advanced Firefighter Skills Class" focused on how to perform F.A.S.T. (Firefighter Assist & Search Team) skills by practicing SCBA packaging and Firefighter CPR. This type of training is what will help our Firefighters who have completed various Firefighting classes to keep up with their skills.

This week's "EMT Fundamentals Class" had our EMS personnel reviewing the practical stations they will be participating in during their EMT class final and how to conduct patient assessment. This type of training is what will prepare our EMT Candidates who are preparing themselves for a future EMT Basic class and for our EMTs who have completed EMT Basic to keep up with their skills.

This week's "Firefighter Fundamentals Class" had our Firefighters going over how to operate an 1-3/4" charged hose line, how to advance a charged 1-3/4" hose line and how to properly use an SCBA . This type of training is what will help our Firefighters who plan on attending the New York State Firefighter I program succeed in their class and for our Firefighters who have completed Firefighter I to keep up with their skills.

This week's "MPO Class" had our prospective Engine 143 drivers practice learning how to use the E-143 pump panel. Our prospective Engine 143 drivers practiced drafting and supplying water to an 1-3/4" hose line to simulate hose line advancement during a residential structure fire. This type of training is what will help our prospective Apparatus Drivers/MPOs become cleared drivers on Engine 143.
