Firefighter Ruggiero wins Firefighter of the Year, EMT Pastrana wins EMT of the Year and Foreman Castelhano wins Rookie of the Year

On June 2nd, 2018 the Vista Fire Department held their Annual Inspection Dinner at the Vista Firehouse on Smith Ridge Road in South Salem, New York.

At the 2018 Vista FD Annual Inspection Dinner, the VFD awarded Firefighter Ryan Ruggiero as their 2017-2018 Firefighter of the Year, EMT Greg Pastrana as their 2017-2018 EMT of the Year and Foreman Dan Castelhano as their 2017-2018 Rookie of the Year.

Firefighter Ryan Ruggiero joined the Vista Fire Department back in November 2015 and has been certified in courses such as Firefighter I, Firefighter Survival, Truck Company Operations, Firefighter II and is Nationally Certified in Firefighter I. Firefighter Ruggiero was the #1 responder in 2017 attending 245 calls out of 280, was the #4 drill attendee participating in 32 out of 37 drills in 2017 and was the 2016-2017 Rookie of the Year.

EMT Greg Pastrana joined the Vista Fire Department back in November 2015 and has been certified as an EMT and Ambulance Driver since joining the VFD. EMT Pastrana also recently received an "EMS citation" for being part of a life saving EMS call in 2017. EMT Pastrana was the #6 responder in 2017 attending 138 calls out of 280 and was the #1 drill attendee participating in 34 out of 37 drills in 2017.

Foreman Dan Castelhano joined the Vista Fire Department back in May 2016 and has been certified in courses such as Firefighter I, EMT Basic, Firefighter Survival, Apparatus Operator - Emergency Vehicle Operations and is Nationally Certified in Firefighter I. Foreman Castelhano showcases the dedication it takes to receive the Rookie of the Year award in the Vista Fire Department.
