We at the Vista Fire Department would like to congratulate Foreman Dan Castelhano on completing the "Response to MCIs Workshop" Class at the Westchester County Fire Training Center in Valhalla, New York!

Foreman Castelhano completed the 6-hour course described as the following by New York State:

“Multiple-Casualty Incidents (MCI) can be difficult to manage and may frustrate even the most seasoned EMS provider in the absence of a systematic triage, treatment, and transport approach. The ability of an EMT to transition from day-to-day operational goals to the unique needs of an MCI is not done easily. Initial bad scene management by EMS can quickly create more of a disaster than first encountered.

This presentation is intended to help EMS personnel better understand how to utilize resources most efficiently, triage objectively, and maximize patient outcome. The Instructor will review in a practical, tabletop classroom exercise the goals and objectives of MCI response by EMS agencies. Students will be asked to role-play the positions of EMS operations at an MCI, within given scenarios.”

All training is free of charge to the members of the Vista Fire Department and Volunteers are needed! Please visit VistaFD.org for more details on how you can join our team!
