This week's Monday Night Drill was "Bailout Training" for our Firefighters and a "Trauma & Hemorrhaging Control" drill for our EMTs.

The "Bailout Training" drill led by Instructors from AAA Emergency Supply Co. reviewed the new Bailout System that the Vista Fire District recently purchased for our Interior Firefighters. Vista Firefighters learned about the new system by going over how to deploy the new system, how to properly maintain it and what will be expected of them when they complete the practical portion in a couple of weeks. With the completion of this course, the Interior Firefighters who attended this presentation will now participate in practical training where they will have to perform several bailouts.

The "Trauma & Hemorrhaging Control" drill led by Capt. Debbie Ferman & Lt. Allie Fisher had our EMS personnel reviewing how to handle a trauma call and how to control bleeding or a hemorrhage. Our EMS personnel properly learned how to use equipment such as a tourniquet and quick clot. This type of training helped orient our EMS personnel on how to properly treat a patient during a trauma response or when controlling a bleed or hemorrhage is necessary.
