We at the Vista Fire Department would like to congratulate Firefighter Patrick Blasco and Firefighter Ryan Ruggiero on completing the New York State Firefighter II program at the Westchester County Fire Training Center in Valhalla, New York!

Firefighter II is a 42-hour course described by the Westchester County Fire Training center as the following:

“The NYS DHSES OFPC Firefighter 2 course is designed to meet the N.F.P.A 1001 Chapter 6 for Firefighter 2. The classroom contact is 42 hours and requires online homework assignments. The firefighter 2 candidate will acquire skills that will allow them to operate them as a member of a team under general supervision. The completion of the course requires the prerequisite firefighter 1 and will allow them to meet the criteria to sit for National Certification. Some of the required skills will include; Accident Victim Extrication Training, Specialized Team Awareness, Foam and Flammable Gas Fire Suppression, Hose Testing, Evidence Preservation, Public Education, ICS and Coordinated Fire Attack, Size Up and Communications.”
