By Vista Fire Department
July 11, 2017

This week's Monday Night Drill had our Firefighters practicing hoseline advancement while our EMTs reviewed how to write a PCR (Prehospital Care Reports) and how to attain an RMA (Refusing Medical Attention) form.

Led by Capt. Mike Peck, our Firefighters practiced stretching 100' of the "trash line," 200' of the 2-1/2" hoseline and 200' of the 1-3/4" hoseline off of Engine 141. Vista Firefighters reviewed how to properly stretch the 2-1/2" & 1-3/4" hoselines and then practiced advancing them as they were fully charged. This type of training is key for our Firefighters as it is part of the basic fundamentals that we drill on.

Led by Capt. Debbie Ferman and Lt. Allie Fisher, our Vista EMTs & EMT Candidates reviewed how to write a Prehospital Care Report (PCR) and the proper way to conduct a Refusing Medical Attention (RMA) form when it is necessary on a call. Our EMTs and EMT Candidates were given a call scenario on how they would write a PCR or attain an RMA when necessary during this drill. Reviewing this information will better prepare them for EMS calls in the near future.

If you are interested in being part of our team at the Vista FD, visit us any Monday night from 6:30pm - 9:30pm for more details or click the "Become a Member" tab at VistaFD.org!
