This week's Monday Night drill saw our Firefighters reviewing Ladder Operations while our EMT's held a "Check and Inject" class and Call Audit.

Led by Foreman Phil Katz, the Vista Firefighters practiced operating a 24-foot ladder while reviewing the proper procedures of raising a ladder, carrying equipment on a ladder and performing a "leg lock." It's crucial for Vista Firefighters to practice ladder operations as it's an important task on the Emergency scene. Ladder operations are essential when it comes to venting a structure or giving Firefighters a way to exit a building should they need to if situations worsen.

The "Check and Inject" class held by Capt. Saslow had our EMT's reviewing the new policies & procedures on Epi-Pen auto injectors changing to a vial and needle. Epinephrine is used for anaphylaxis, which is a life threatening condition that can occur from severe allergic reactions. Our Vista EMT's also reviewed their Prehospital Care Reports (PCR's) as part of our "Quality Assessment & Quality Improvement (QA/QI) Program" during a Call Audit on Monday night. PCR's are the documentation of all the care and pertinent patient information that our EMT's will receive during an EMS call.
